UET Lahore Hosts “Voices of Inclusion – Lahore Drama and Mime Festival 2026”

The Auditorium Complex of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore transformed into a vibrant and emotionally charged space as the two-day “Voices of Inclusion – Lahore Drama and Mime Festival 2026” unfolded. The hall was packed to capacity, with students filling every seat. The atmosphere reflected excitement, curiosity, and a shared sense of anticipation, while waves of applause echoed throughout the venue after each performance.
The festival was organized by the UET Dramatics Society in collaboration with the Digital Development Lab and Soch Foundation for Education and Awareness, with support from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).

Dramatic societies from leading universities across Punjab participated enthusiastically, including the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Lahore Garrison University, University of the Punjab, University of Education, FAST University, Bahauddin Zakariya University, COMSATS University, and Government College University, among others. The students presented diverse performances highlighting social issues, human emotions, and societal behaviors, earning strong appreciation from the audience.
A particularly notable performance by the UET Dramatics Society titled “Khayal – A Man Trapped in the Battle of Thoughts” stood out as one of the highlights of the festival. The play portrayed the inner conflict of a young individual struggling between personal aspirations, future choices, and societal pressures.

Another powerful presentation featured persons with disabilities, who effectively highlighted their challenges, abilities, and resilience. In addition, mime and drama performances addressing themes of love, class inequality, and other social issues added depth and diversity to the event.
Punjab Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat attended as the Chief Guest and announced a cash prize of PKR 500,000 for the top three performing teams collectively. He praised the creative talent of students and appreciated such initiatives for promoting positive engagement and social awareness.

Vice Chancellor UET Lahore, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and stated that such activities play a vital role in nurturing students’ creative abilities and strengthening their social consciousness alongside academic learning.
The event was also attended by the High Commissioner of Canada, Tarek Ali Khan, along with the Pro Vice Chancellor, deans, faculty members, and a large number of students. The enthusiastic response from the audience, continuous applause, and joyful atmosphere turned the festival into a memorable celebration of art, expression, and inclusivity.
